Garnet VM on Linux 2008/03/04 12:58 Karma: 0
Hi,

I downloaded gvm_dev_kit.tgz and unpacked it. When trying to run bin/linux_rel/gvm -G, the interface starts, and I can click on the shell or on the lookup widget, but when I click on "home" gvm will just exit.

I wouldn't care that much about this if I were able to run any application at all - but I can't, so I have to debug on real hardware

Did I miss a step?

I am running Fedora 8 (on a 64-bit system, but I doubt that could be the problem).

Thanks!
Misa

Hi Misa --

Yes, there is an additional step. Once you have gvm started, you need to start another app: gras-client. Then you interact with gras-client to install .prc/.pdb files, to mount a SD-card, or to test with different settings (screen sizes, heap, etc.).

Hope this helps.

Tom

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I did try to use gras-client, but it would still fail with various error messages.

Is there a way to attach a serial device to gvm? The docs say port 2000 would be linked to the emulator's serial port, but trying to open the port from my application yields an error.
