ACCESS Linux Platform Development Suite Release 2 Now Available

As customer momentum for the ACCESS Linux Platform grows, ADN is releasing an update to the ALP Development Suite 2.4. Since the first public release of the ALP Development Suite in February 2007, ACCESS has continued to expand the functionality of the SDK, giving developers a powerful and easy to use tool for native Linux application development. The updated SDK incorporates many new features including a new skin for finger touch user interface support, audio and video capabilities in the Simulator, updated ALP-Glade to support new platform widget components, and added support to run on the latest Ubuntu 8.04 release (see Release Notes for instructions). Future releases of the ALP Development Suite will incorporate LiMo compliance as the foundation continues its innovative path towards creating an open, Linux based software platform for use by the whole global industry to produce mobile devices.

Download the latest version of the ALP Development Suite and read the Release Notes here. The ALP CODECS required to run sound and video in the Simulator are a separate download and instructions for installation are also available in the download section. For Windows and Mac users, a new VMware image has also been released with the latest version of the SDK running on Ubuntu 7.10.

The extensive documentation guides have been updated for the new release and can be found here. For any technical issues related to the SDK and application development, please use the discussion forums so our Developer Relations Engineers can assist you.

In addition, you can simulate hardware conditions such as low-battery, plugged-in and more in this simulator release.
